Connecting a custom domain to your store via Namecheap
Video Guide:
What is a custom domain?
A custom domain refers to having your SellSN seller page on your own domain to add an extra bit of personality, with this guide you can connect a custom domain to your store and be up and running within 24 hours.
How to connect one?
Get your domain ready
You'll need to own a domain in-order to use the feature, you can acquire one at Namecheap or any other provider of your choice. This guide is for Namecheap configuration only, other providers may differ.
Configure your domain with SellSN
Head over to the SellSN dashboard and select the store you wish to add the custom domain to in the top left corner of your screen, then you need to head over to the "Personalize" page and then the "Custom domain" card. Click the "Enable custom domain" button to open the setup wizard.
⚠️ Be sure to ignore any protocols (like https:// or http://) or your domain will not be setup correctly!
Once you're in the setup wizard, enter your custom domain (e.g, example.com) in the text box labelled "Domain", then click "Next".
🚧. Do not close out of the setup wizard as you will lose the configuration records and be unable to configure your domain!
Configure your domain with Namecheap
You should now see a dialog on SellSN with the DNS record details to add to your domain to configure it correctly. You need to keep these details as they are required to finish the configuration with Namecheap. Now, we need to head over to your domain in Namecheap, go to the "Manage" section and then under the "Nameservers" option, click the "Namecheap BasicDNS" option and click the checkmark to save the changes.
Add the new DNS records
Now, we need to configure the DNS records, so head over to the "Advanced DNS" section and then find the "Host records" section. We need to add 2 records, firstly delete any existing CNAME/A records to "@" or the name of your domain, then you need to add a new record which will direct users to SellSN when they access your domain.
Click "Add new record" and select CNAME under the record type.
Then under the "Host" label type @ and then under the "Value" label type custom.sellsn.io and click the checkmark button to save the record.
Now, we need to add the final DNS record, this one varies based on the domain so you need to fetch this one from SellSN, it should be in the format of _acme-challenge.example.com and the value should be a random string of characters. Click "Add new record" and select TXT under the record type.
Then under the "Host" label type _acme-challenge and under the "Value" label type the value of the record. Both of these values should be given to you by SellSN in Step 2. Once you've done this click on the checkmark button to save the record.
Please allow up to 24 hours for DNS settings to take effect and your custom domain to activate. For troubleshooting, verify your configuration or reach out to customer support.
